We grew these!
Throughout the Spring and Summer terms, Mrs Weller has taken small groups of Year 2 children to plant and look after a variety of vegetables - including tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, broad beans, carrots, beetroot, spring onions and coriander.
Extra lettuces and tomatoes were sold at the Summer Fair.
The potato crop was very good and they were then cooked for the pupils to taste and were very popular.
Mrs Weller's growing club is so popular, that the Year 2 children will remind Mrs Coleman that she needs to choose the next group! The club runs during a playtime . |
So this is what a beetroot looks like! They were also cooked and tasted by willing volunteers. |
| As part of their topic on 'Jack and the Beanstalk', the children in Chestnut and Beech classes grew beans from seeds.
They discovered that plants need light, water and soil in order to grow.
Oak, and Silver Birch classes also grew beans and hyacinths.
Acorn class grew beans, peas and some seasonal flowers in their planters. |
