Year One visit Shortenills Environmental Centre - July 2008
The woods were full of bluebells. Even the picnic lunch was an opportunity to reinforce the process of recycling as they had to place their rubbish into the correct bins
Oak and Silver Birch classes travelled to Shortenills Environmental centre to undertake a variety of activities relating to exploring the environment.
The children learned about P.A.W.S, which stand for: P - plants for food A - air to breathe W - water to drink S - shelter
By the look of the photographs, the children and the adults all had great fun!
A big thank you to the parent helpers who gave up their free time!
One activity had the children being trees and bears. The bears lost their shelter when they trees were 'cut down'. The children had to collect things to put into a 'smelly cocktail'. Every child took a teddy bear friend and they had to make a 'shelter' in the woods for them.
