LEARNING IS A JOURNEY - NOT A RACE!!

 'Get Healthy' Week - 11th February - 15th February 2008

Following the success of last year's activity week, activities were planned around the theme of being heathy. The children were able to try out a variety of activities focusing on keeping healthy through exercise - basketball, gymnastics and drama.

Monday: Year One and Two classes developed their gymnastic skills with Jeff.

Tuesday :  'Perform' introduced to the children to drama though the theme of 'Space'.  The children had to travel through space under the guidance of Rachel to save the galaxy.

Thursday:  the charity Lepra held a sponsorered dance session where the children exercised at quite a fast pace!  And they enjoyed themselves!

A fantastic £1206 was raised for the charity to help families whoare affected by leprosy

. Well done everyone!  Lepra will now be able to help 57 people.

Friday:  Jeff came back to work on basketball skills with the classes in Years One and Two.

Also:

Willow class used this week to plan and make a healthy sandwich - the most popular filling turned out to be egg and cress.  But other fillings included ham, chicken, tuna, cheese, lettuce, tomato and cucumber.

They also had to prepare the filling in small groups - chopping , grating and slicing.

Mrs Staynor discovered that 10 eggs make a lot of noise when they explode - she forgot to set the timer!!  Luckily it was in her own kitchen and she had another box of eggs!
