LEARNING  IS  A  JOURNEY  -  NOT  A  RACE ! ! !

The last week of the summer was a sad time for us as Mrs Coleman was retiring - various activities had been planned (some were also known as 'secret squirrel' activities with the children knowing, but with Mrs Coleman being kept in the dark).

Well done to the children as the surprises were kept secret!!

A tea party was held for Governors and staff - both present and past and other people with close connections to the school.  The cake had the squirrel logo on the top.   Mrs Coleman was pesented with an assortment of Denby crockery.

Mr Coleman managed to drive home with every piece intact!!

Mrs Coleman organised a party for the children on Wednesday afternoon. Firstly, they were entertained by the Booster Cushion Theatre company.

Mrs Coleman had made each child a cake - Willowclass wondered how long it had taken her to make them.

Then Mrs Buchanan and Mrs Wood entertained with summer magic (and a summer wand) and the magic still worked with sunglasses!

And Mrs Coleman had a'go' and surprised everyone by getting it right!

Each year group performed a short song or rhyme for a surprise retirement assembly, to which parents were invited.

The children did really well as they had been unable to practise in the hall - to near Mrs Coleman's room!

Mrs Smith and Mrs Parry pesented Mrs Coleman with a memory book containing pictures from a variety of activites since Mrs Coleman arrival at our school.  Each child had contributed and there were also contributions from former pupils too.

Now Mrs Coleman realised why she had to be in all of the class photos!!

Each class presented Mrs Coleman with a class card.  Another secret squirrel activity was a collection from the children.

Mrs Coleman was presented with a digital camera, a Swarovski squirrel, theatre tickets and a gardening set.
