Curriculum
The Reception classes of Beech and Chestnut are working in the Foundation Stage and a curriculum has been developed around fortnightly mini topics based on a variety of books - both modern and traditional, fiction and non-fiction.
The Foundation stage curriculum has six areas of learning:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Mathematical development
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical development
- Creative development

The Year 1 and Year 2 classes are working in Key Stage 1. These classes use termly whole school topics as a way of accessing ( if appropriate) the required subject areas of:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Science
- History
- Geography
- Art
- Design and Technology
- ICT
- Music
- RE
- PHSE
For this academic year 2006/07, we have planned the following topics:

- Living Things
- Adventure

A curriculum newsletter is sent home to all parents at the beginning of each term.
