ART WEEK ( 25th - 29th February 2008)
This is always an enjoyable week with the whole school participating. The week is given over to learning a variety of artistic techniques, working together to create works of art and to finding out about the works of famous artists. Rousseau, Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Bridget Riley were the focus artists this year.

Monika brought in some of her huge collection of African artefacts and gave a whole school presentation on what they were made of, if they had a purpose etc. We learned a lot!
She then held year group workshops where the children had the opportunity to draw the artefacts using pencils and paper |
|
Children worked in groups drawing some of the artefacts. |
The theme of African art was continued into this display in the library area. |

Mrs Hall (one of our parents ) came in to show us how a still life would be painted. The children then had the opportunity to observe the progress. |
Throughout the week the children took part in a variety of classroom based activities - here are some of them.

Using chalk in the new reception class outdoor area. |

'Talking partners' discuss and answer questions for an art review. |
Painting in the style of Monet |
Other art work included observational drawings, collage, printing and loads of paper, glue and paint - once again, our apologies to Mr and Mrs Cox and Mrs Sidhu, who managed to get rid of most of the evidence from the floors and tables !
