FARNHAM COMMON INFANT SCHOOL

NEWSLETTER

27th September, 2007

Dear Parents,

With just three weeks into the new term it is so nice to see all the children well settled into their classes and routines. Well done, particularly to all the Year One children, who are already coming into school in the morning on their own. Those parents with children in Beech class can also start to encourage them to come in on their own from 8.50 a.m. if you feel they are ready to do so. There are always adults around to help with shoes, etc. if need be.

HARVEST

Our Harvest Festival is next Thursday, 4th October, at 9.15 a.m. Those who are planning to send in fruit, vegetables, flowers, tinned or packed goods, please do so on Wednesday. This will allow time for displaying them. The goods will be sold after school on the Thursday in aid of the charity 'Seeds for Africa'. A collection will also be made at the end of the assembly. Every £5 raised will buy a fruit tree. If you are able to come at 2.15 p.m. on the Thursday afternoon to help organise and sell the produce, please let me know.

BOOK WEEK: 8th - 12th October

There will be a Book Fair in Chestnut class every day during this week from 2.50 p.m. - 3.30 pm. and at 11.30 a.m. on the Wednesday and Thursday for Acorn and Beech class. All the children will have the opportunity to look at the books with their class early in the week. Please let me know if you are able to help sell books for the afternoon times on any day. We are also looking forward to a visit from a storyteller, a poet and a theatre group. Please send your child to school with a contribution of £2 on Monday, 8th to help cover some of the costs of these events. On Friday, 12th, children may come to school dressed as their favourite story character or bring a favourite book.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. J.R. Coleman,
Head Teacher.
