Charging Policy for Educational Activities/ After School Activities

FARNHAM   COMMON   INFANT SCHOOL

Charging Policy for Educational Activities

The aim at Farnham   Common   Infant School is to enable all the children to have access to a broad and interesting curriculum free of charge. In providing this interesting and broad curriculum costs are incurred from time to time that cannot be met from the School Budget and other sources of income must be found for the activities to take place.

Should a charge need to be levied parents/guardians must be given the opportunity to agree to contribute before money is requested and know about the costs well in advance.  There will be no impact on the child if their parent/guardian refuses to contribute.

The requested contribution must not exceed the actual cost of providing the additional curriculum activity.

Contributions will be requested when:-

·        An off-site trip is planned where the cost of entry to the venue and the transport to the venue would be far in excess of funds available through the School Fund/School Budget.

·        Events have been organised for Book or Music Week and a small contribution is necessary to supplement other funds provided from School Fund and the Friends of the School to pay for performers.

·        Children work on an activity, with an outside provider, for which there is an end product which will be sent home to the parent/guardian.

Care must be taken that requests for contributions are kept to minimum – usually not exceeding one per term.

After School Activities

Regularly clubs run after school for which parents must pay the provider for their child to join the club.  The providers of the clubs are not charged for the use of the facilities as these clubs take place when the school is still open for staff to work so therefore no costs are incurred by the school. This arrangement enables the providers to keep their costs as low as possible thus benefiting the children in the school.
